If it's your first trip to the Maldives, the idea of a resort transfer can feel like an unknown variable in an otherwise planned trip. In practice it's a well-worn process that thousands of travelers go through every day. Here's exactly how it unfolds, step by step.

1. Immigration and baggage

After landing at Velana International Airport (MLE), you'll clear immigration using your passport and completed Traveller Declaration, then collect your checked baggage. This typically takes 20 to 40 minutes depending on how busy the arrivals hall is.

2. Meeting your transfer

Once through customs, you'll enter the main arrivals area, where resort and transfer representatives wait holding name boards or resort signs. If your resort arranged the transfer, look for their branded sign near the exit. If you booked an independent speedboat transfer, your confirmation will include a specific meeting point and a local contact number.
